Job description

ABOUT

  • We're building the future of storytelling and video editing.
  • We're a small team that moves fast and builds things we're proud of.
  • We care obsessively about taste: in design, in product, in every word.
  • We're solving these https://docs.google.com/document/d/1msvjI0iKo6CG9HMN5Z5vxKpwsU4IxXQl-O4yCwJnq5A/edit?tab=t.0 hard problems.
  • We're backed by a Tier-1 global fund, YC, and founders of billion dollar companies. We're hiring a Writer to express and evolve Cardboard’s brand. WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO
  • Write. A lot. Captions for every social channel. Blogs. The newsletter. Lifecycle emails. Website copy that ranks in search and shows up in AI answers. Refine/write drafts for Linkedin, X (formerly Twitter), Substack, and Ads - think in hooks and CTAs. Product microcopy. Update announcements. Reports and case studies. If it has a sentence/word on it, it's yours.
  • Create well researched thoughtful content and then scale it to post across all our socials channels.
  • Work closely with founders, growth, and media team. Shape Cardboard’s voice and carry that voice across social, email, web, product, and launches.
  • Live inside customer calls, Slack, support tickets, social media comments and timelines. The phrases customers use and the questions they ask are your raw material.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You already write, on your own, without anyone asking. We'll look at what you've written before we look at your qualifications/resume.
  • You have taste. You're terminally online. You know why one creator's caption works and another doesn't, and you can articulate it well.
  • You think in outcomes and understand the funnel - acquire, activate, convert, and retain. Every piece of writing has a job/goal, and you grade yourself on whether the job got done.
  • You are terminally online, and just understand the banter that goes online.
  • You understand what works on each platform
  • X, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit. You know the same idea needs to be written differently for each one.
  • You are flexible and adaptable and hence ghostwrite well. You can adapt someone’s voice and have it come out better than they would have written it.
  • You're AI-native. Claude and other AI friends are your drafting partners, but you have a strong eye for an AI output - when it’s good and when it's slop.
  • We're building the tool we wished we had. You should also feel that. WHAT YOU GET
  • Competitive salary and founding team equity.
  • Unlimited PTOs
  • Unlimited tokens. Use whatever you want, as much as you want.
  • A healthy budget for tools, and anything you need to do your best work.
  • Creative control over every word the world reads about Cardboard.
  • Founders who value the brand https://paulgraham.com/brandage.html as a moat.
  • Weekly team dinners, sport matches, and outings ✨
