The Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Alternative Investment Product Specialist to join our dynamic Investment Advisory team. This is a critical client-facing role responsible for the development, distribution, and advisory support of our alternative investment product platform, with a strong focus on serving our high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clientele in Mainland China.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in the alternative investment landscape and exceptional cross-border advisory skills.
Key Responsibilities
Alternative Product Strategy and Development Shelf Construction: Lead the strategy, due diligence, selection, and management of a best-in-class alternative fund product shelf, covering hedge funds, private equity, private credit, real estate, structured products, and other unique alternative strategies tailored for the HNW/UHNW mainland market.
Work closely with internal research, legal, compliance, and operational teams to structure, onboard, and maintain alternative investment products. Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes to ensure the product offering remains competitive and compliant. Client Advisory and Sales Support Advisory Expertise: Provide expert-level advisory services and product knowledge to Relationship Managers (RMs) and direct to HNW/UHNW clients, interpreting complex alternative fund strategies and structuring appropriate portfolio allocations.
Develop high-quality marketing materials, presentations, and thought leadership content on alternative investments. Conduct client seminars, roadshows, and one-on-one meetings to educate clients on the merits and risks of alternative assets. Market Coverage and Travel Mainland Engagement: Partner closely with Relationship Managers, traveling frequently to Mainland China to support sales efforts, participate in client meetings, and deepen product understanding across sales teams in key cities.
Act as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for alternative funds across our Mainland China coverage teams.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in product specialist, fund selection, investment advisory, or a related role within alternative investments, preferably within a private bank, asset manager, or wealth management firm. Core Knowledge: Strong, demonstrable knowledge and hands-on experience in building, managing, and promoting an alternative fund product shelf (e.
g., product sourcing, manager due diligence, portfolio construction). Client Focus: Proven experience in offering sophisticated investment advisory services to HNW and UHNW clients, particularly those located in Mainland China. Communication & Travel: Excellent presentation and communication skills in Mandarin (verbal and written).
Willingness and ability to travel frequently to Mainland China with Relationship Managers is essential. Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. CFA, CAIA, or equivalent professional designation is highly preferred. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant cross-border financial regulations and the investment preferences of Mainland Chinese HNW/UHNW investors is a plus.
