Vehicle Dynamics Attribute Development Lead Engineer – Chassis

Position Context: Vehicle Dynamics Development Engineer will be responsible of the management and development of Vehicle dynamics attributes including Ride, Handling, Brakes, Steering & tyres, from target setting, tuning and targets delivery for advanced chassis systems for all platforms. Play a key role in Suspension tuning and Advanced Chassis controls tuning including EPS and ESC by coordinating and execution at Inhouse and External Supplier locations.

Position Responsibilities (List of essential job functions/duties, responsibilities and expectations – use bullets and prioritize key responsibilities on top)

• Lead all activities related to the Attribute development, including subjective and objective evaluation, benchmarking & target setting
• Planning, Co-ordinating, Vehicle preparation to ensure timely completion of all Chassis tuning activities including co-ordination with Supplier and ESPs for passive, semi active & active suspensions.
• Prepare Tuning plan for Chassis development including Steering and Brakes development.
• Process and analysis of data out of the testing, elaborating the test report, including main conclusions and recommendations.
• Track the Technical Targets delivery status by following VD DVP testing execution that are carried out by internal/external testing service providers.
• Manage JIRA system, to capture any issue detected during the development/testing. Work together with the respective areas to address properly the technical solution of the issues.

Requirements

• Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineer or equivalent work experience (8+ years) with strong knowledge in Chassis systems and Automotive industry vehicle development practices including electric vehicles chassis development Skill, Experience:
• Solid background in Chassis Systems, Layout and Functions. K&C reports analysis. Awareness and interpretation of CAE tools and MBD analysis reports
• Experienced in Vehicle Dynamics & Brakes DVP and overall validation strategies for vehicle dynamics. Good knowledge of testing standards for these domains.
• Knowledge on DVP test execution & instrumentation involved
• Good knowhow on chassis components- Damper- Passive/Semi/Active dampers, Springs- conventional/Air, Anti rollbars, Bushings, Steering systems
• Knowledge on Benchmarking and target setting for Vehicle dynamics attributes including Brakes
• Good skills for subjective assessment of the main vehicle. Dynamics domains: ride, handling, brakes, steering, tires.
• Tuning skills mainly in Ride, Handling and Electric Power Steering. Brakes including ABS, TCS, and ESC.
• Benchmark experience on other OEMs for Vehicle Dynamics attribute.
• Experience working with external global testing/tuning 3rd party suppliers/ESPs Other requirements:
• Domain of engineering fundamentals of Vehicle systems (EVs).
• Skilled for Problem solving, analytical thinking and presenting result-oriented behavior.
• International proving grounds exposure and driving permit.
• Valid Driving licence (LCV, SUV).
• Assertive and presenting very good analytical skills.
• Willingness to travel overseas when required as per business demands.
• Good Team player and ability to work seamlessly with cross functional teams.
