Summary The Junior Accountant plays a vital role in supporting the organisation’s financial operations by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, facilitating timely transaction processing, and contributing to financial reporting and compliance efforts. This position is essential for maintaining transparency, accountability, and adherence to accounting standards and internal financial policies.
The Junior Accountant will work closely with finance teams to support budget monitoring, statutory compliance, and the smooth execution of daily financial activities, contributing to the overall financial health and operational efficiency of the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Process payment requests and record daily financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Receive, verify, and process incoming invoices; prepare and issue payment vouchers.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances to improve cash flow.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, including variance analysis and performance summaries.
- Compile and maintain detailed expense reports and supporting financial documentation.
- Track and monitor departmental spending against approved budgets.
- Maintain up-to-date tax records and support the preparation of statutory filings.
- Ensure all financial activities comply with organisational policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Uphold the confidentiality and security of sensitive financial information at all times.
