Occupational Therapist – Enhanced Rehabilitation & Recovery Ward

Location: Bristol Contract: Locum Hours: 3-4 Days Per Week Start Date: 10th August 2026 Duration: Until Mid to End October 2026

Our client is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join their team in** Bristol** on a locum basis. This role is based within the Enhanced Rehabilitation and Recovery Ward, supporting individuals with complex mental health and neurocognitive needs through person-centred assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with experience in mental health and/or neurocognitive settings who is looking to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team while maintaining a significant level of autonomous practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete a range of occupational therapy assessments, including:

  • Initial assessments

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADL) assessments

  • Cognitive assessments

  • Financial capacity assessments

  • Sensory-informed assessments

  • Develop and implement person-centred care plans based on assessment findings.

  • Facilitate, coordinate, and delegate therapeutic interventions to support patient recovery and independence.

  • Assess, review, and recommend moving and handling equipment, including hoists, slings, and mobility aids.

  • Complete comprehensive risk assessments and ensure interventions are delivered safely and effectively.

  • Work closely with an Occupational Therapy Assistant and provide supervision and support as required.

  • Contribute to multidisciplinary care planning and clinical decision-making.

  • Utilise evidence-based practice to deliver high-quality occupational therapy interventions.

Requirements:

  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Previous experience working within mental health and/or neurocognitive settings.
  • Strong assessment and care planning skills.
  • Experience completing functional, cognitive, and risk assessments.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
