Job description

Position Overview

The PVV Welding QC Inspector is responsible for supervising and controlling all welding and fabrication quality activities related to piping, pressure vessels, valves, and associated components within the AGUP Phase 2 CPF-2 Package. The role ensures compliance with approved welding procedures, project specifications, and applicable industry codes.

The position reports directly to the CPF2 Site QC Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Inspection & Reporting Monitor and record welding activities on a daily basis. Conduct inspections in fabrication shops, pipe racks, vessel installation areas, and field welding locations. Verify compliance with approved welding procedures and welder qualifications. Review contractor welding reports and databases.

Track weld acceptance and rejection trends. Prepare daily and weekly quality reports covering progress, findings, non-conformities, corrective actions, quality trends, and contractor performance. Maintain inspection records, ITP follow-up, NCR/CAR tracking, and Mechanical Completion documentation. Welding & Fabrication Inspection Verify material identification, traceability, and MTC compliance.

Inspect fit-up, bevel preparation, alignment, and cleanliness before welding. Ensure compliance with WPS, PQR, and WPQ requirements. Monitor welding parameters, preheat, interpass temperature, heat input, and cooling requirements. Verify consumable handling, storage, baking, and traceability. Review weather protection measures for field welding.

Inspect shielding gas and purge arrangements for stainless steel and duplex materials. Verify flange alignment, nozzle orientation, and distortion control practices. Review PWHT activities, thermocouple placement, and heat treatment records. Inspect weld quality, dimensional tolerances, weld mapping, and traceability records.

Ensure weld repairs are performed according to approved procedures. Equipment & Materials Covered Process piping (CS, LTCS, SS, DSS, SDSS, Alloy and CRA materials) Pressure vessels Valves and welded connections Static equipment Vendor packaged skids and vessels Structural interfaces connected to PVV systems NDT & Piping Interfaces Ensure NDT requirements are properly implemented.

Verify weld readiness for NDT inspections. Review NDT reports and monitor repair activities. Coordinate with QC Piping teams regarding fit-up release, traceability, test packs, hydrotests, and Mechanical Completion dossiers. Documentation & Quality Assurance Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records. Ensure implementation of approved drawings, welding plans, and ITPs.

Maintain welding records and quality documentation. Raise NCRs and CARs when required. Support Mechanical Completion and Manufacturing Data Record (MDR) preparation. Non-Conformity Management Identify and report welding deviations and quality issues. Verify corrective actions and weld repairs. Participate in root cause analysis and preventive actions.

Escalate critical quality issues to the QC Superintendent. Coordination & Site Support Participate in QC and construction coordination meetings. Interface with QC Mechanical, QC Piping, QC NDT, Engineering, and Contractor teams. Support technical clarifications related to welding and metallurgy. Participate in audits and site inspections.

Ensure confidentiality of project documentation.

Requirements

Professional Experience Minimum 10 years of Welding QC experience on major Oil & Gas EPC projects. Strong experience in piping, pressure vessel, and valve welding inspection. Previous experience on CPF, refinery, petrochemical, or large industrial facilities is highly preferred. Technical Requirements Strong knowledge of welding processes: SMAW GTAW GMAW/FCAW SAW Orbital Welding Solid understanding of: ASME Section IX ASME B31.

3 API Standards Knowledge of metallurgy and fabrication techniques. Ability to review and interpret: Isometric drawings Welding drawings WPS, PQR, and WPQ documentation Knowledge of weld repair methodologies and metallurgical constraints. Familiarity with NCR, deviation, concession, and corrective action processes. Experience with digital quality management platforms such as Aconex, SharePoint, SmartPlant, or similar systems is advantageous.
