HR MANAGER

  • PAARL, Western Cape A well-established manufacturing business in Paarl is looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead and professionalise its HR function. With a workforce of around 150 employees — spanning both blue-collar production staff and office professionals — this is a key opportunity to shape culture, strengthen compliance, and drive initiatives that support people and business growth. The successful candidate will be both strategic and hands-on: ensuring compliance and policies are upheld, while also building a strong foundation for recruitment, staff development, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding Oversee job descriptions, grading, and pay standardisation. Manage the candidate pipeline and CV library for production and office roles. Conduct interviews, coordinate selection, and manage smooth onboarding. Facilitate induction and training programmes to ensure readiness and retention. HR Management & Compliance Serve as policy custodian and ensure consistent compliance across the workforce.

Manage Employment Equity, B-BBEE scorecard processes, and SETA training requirements. Oversee disciplinary processes, maintain accurate records, and support fair employee relations. Coordinate annual performance evaluations (with a strong focus on production staff). Time, Attendance & Payroll Oversee shift planning, team scheduling, overtime, and leave tracking (in partnership with line managers).

Validate timesheets and manage HR systems such as Uniclox. Supervise monthly payroll for salaried staff and fortnightly wages for production staff (with HR assistant support). Handle staff expense claims and maintain accurate reporting. Employee Development & Culture Drive HR initiatives that strengthen company values, staff engagement, and culture.

Support training and development across levels, from shop floor to management. Partner with managers and team leads to ensure accountability for performance, teamwork, and attendance. Requirements

Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in HR management within manufacturing, FMCG or a similar labour-intensive environment. Strong knowledge of South African labour law, Employment Equity, and B-BBEE compliance. Proven track record in managing both blue-collar and white-collar workforces.

Hands-on experience with HR systems (e.g. Uniclox, SimplePay, or similar). Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to balance compliance requirements with people-focused culture initiatives.
