Key Responsibilities
Support Insulation Work: Assist in installing and maintaining insulation materials (foam, fiberglass, cellular glass, etc.) for cold systems like refrigeration, chilled water lines, and cryogenic equipment. Surface Preparation: Clean and prepare surfaces before insulation (removing rust, dust, moisture, or oil). Material Handling: Transport insulation materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites or scaffolding.
Installation Support: Help in cutting, fitting, and securing insulation materials under the direction of senior insulators. Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols including wearing proper PPE and understanding safety data sheets (SDS) for materials used. Sealing and Wrapping: Assist in sealing joints and applying vapor barriers to prevent condensation and improve thermal efficiency.
Requirements
Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials; work in confined or elevated spaces. Experience: Previous experience in insulation work is an advantage but not always required for helper roles. Knowledge: Basic understanding of insulation materials, tools, and techniques (training is usually provided for helpers). Team Player: Willingness to work under supervision and assist skilled workers.
Work Conditions: Comfortable working in cold environments, outdoors, or at heights. Communication: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; basic understanding of workplace safety signs and labels.
