Job Title: Laboratory Technical Specialist Job Type: Permanent Location: Ellesmere Port - onsite Hours: 37.
5 hours per week Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm Salary: from £25,000 pa DOE Industry: Oil Conditioning Monitoring Main Duties Ensuring all samples received are diagnosed and are issued within turnaround times according to business and customer requirements Perform investigational analysis including the planning and execution of out-of-scope operations, analysis and generation of bespoke reporting in accordance with business and customer requirements.
Provide technical assistance to team leaders or other appropriate colleagues to maintain service levels and ensure efficient laboratory operations. Liaise with customers to keep them informed of analytical test issues such as delays, etc. to ensure customer satisfaction and confidence is maintained – this will include sporadic face to face site visits Maintain instrument up time assisting stakeholders in solving analytical instrument issues i.
e. ICP, Viscosity and FTIR. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has: Experience in a used oil laboratory environment or experience in a lubricant industry technical role Experience of Failure mode and effects analysis and undertaking Route Cause analysis Experience of wet chemistry analysis Experience in being an advance M package user - specifically Excel Essential Qualifications Mechanical Engineering / Chemistry Qualification (C&G / HNC / HND) Time served experience with interpretation of FTIR, GC-MS, ICP data At SGS, we believe in rewarding our employees for their hard work and commitment.
