Key Responsibilities
Provide future-ready recommendations by delivering strategic guidance to business leaders on necessary adjustments, such as integrating artificial intelligence to improve customer service and operational efficiency. Manage enterprise architecture components to support future growth, including business architecture for transformational process improvements, information architecture for advanced data analytics, solution architecture for technology portfolio innovation, technical architecture for the adoption of modern infrastructure, and security architecture for anticipating and mitigating emerging IT risks.
This may include leading the transition to cloud-based platforms to improve scalability and agility. Facilitate strategic information sharing by ensuring effective communication and data exchange across the organization to support future innovation. Collaborate with data architecture teams to establish a forward-looking data governance framework that uses real-time data insights to support strategic decision-making.
Main Activities
- Leadership and Influence Lead the establishment, development, or transformation of the enterprise architecture program and function. Lead the preparation of an enterprise architecture implementation plan based on business strategies and requirements.
- Strategy and Execution Formulate, translate, promote, support, and execute business strategies to achieve the organization’s targeted outcomes. Develop technology-enabled operating models and provide practical options while ensuring visibility into potential implementation challenges.
- Business Outcome Delivery Identify the relationships among the organization’s people, processes, information, technology, and other assets, as well as their interactions with one another and the external environment. Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop and present business capability models and roadmaps that support enterprise-wide discussions and decision-making. Lead the assessment of future business capabilities and both current and future IT environments to identify critical gaps and recommend solutions that support improvement and business growth. Lead the analysis of the IT environment to identify significant deficiencies and recommend appropriate improvement measures. Provide an assessment of the organization’s readiness for change and innovation. Present gap analyses and IT investment roadmaps reflecting the condition of the existing IT environment and its ability to support future business capabilities, digital platforms, and business ecosystems.
- Analysis and Governance Lead the analysis of future business capabilities and current and future IT environments to identify critical deficiencies and recommend improvement solutions. Lead and facilitate the establishment of governance controls, assurance mechanisms, and standards to guide enterprise architecture decision-making.
- Implementation and Communication Oversee the documentation of all architecture design and analysis activities. Lead the development and implementation of communication and training plans for enterprise architecture.
Requirements
Educational Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Analysis, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Relevant Experience At least 7 years of experience across a minimum of three disciplines, including business architecture, information architecture, solution architecture, technical architecture, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management, or operations within a multitier environment.
At least 5 years of business experience in strategic planning, operational planning, or related business functions. Relevant Knowledge and Expertise Strong knowledge of business models, operating models, financial models, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting, and risk management. Familiarity with information management practices, systems development life cycle management, IT service management, infrastructure and operations, enterprise architecture frameworks, and recognized IT service management frameworks.
Ability to balance foundational enterprise architecture activities focused on efficiency and predictability with advanced enterprise architecture initiatives focused on speed, agility, and flexibility, creating a unified and adaptable architecture that meets organizational requirements. Strong understanding of existing, new, and emerging technologies and processing environments.
Ability to remain vendor- and technology-neutral, with a stronger focus on business outcomes than on personal preferences or the vested interests of business and IT leaders. Familiarity with fundamental graphical modelling methods, tools, and model repositories. Ability to think, behave, and operate as an innovative consultant in supporting the organization’s digital business strategies.
Strong understanding of business language and the ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders. Ability to influence stakeholders across the organization and work effectively as part of a team. Ability to drive short-term actions that remain aligned with long-term objectives. Practical and principle-based approach to decision-making and problem-solving.
Ability to balance the long-term strategic perspective with the short-term implications of individual decisions. Ability to translate business needs into enterprise architecture requirements. Ability to assess the financial impact of alternative enterprise architecture solutions. Ability to apply multiple potential solutions to business challenges.
Ability to quickly understand the functions and capabilities of new technologies. Knowledge of business ecosystems, software as a service, infrastructure as a service, platform as a service, service-oriented architecture, application programming interfaces, open data, microservices, event-driven IT, and predictive analytics.
Comprehensive knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture. Knowledge of business engineering principles and processes.
