Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatric/Mental Health Services (Sarpy County Jail)

Psychiatric nurse practitioner, an advance practice nurse, will offer patient assessment and diagnosis, prescribe medications, order laboratory tests and provide patient education at the Sarpy County Jail. Collaborates with Sarpy County Jail prescribers, as well as the Heartland Family Service Mental Health Clinician placed at the Sarpy Jail. Provides psychiatric health services, education, short term counseling and emotional support. Issues medication prescriptions in accordance with treatment guidelines. Provides education regarding medications, risks, benefits and reasonable outcome expectations to promote mental health. Communicates with patients and engages in follow-up.
