Job description

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Civil Engineer to join the development team for a landmark luxury hotel and resort project in the Caribbean. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-profile Caribbean development while working in one of the region’s most naturally stunning environments. The successful candidate will lead the structural and infrastructural aspects of the project, ensuring construction meets the highest standards of safety, resilience, quality, and environmental sustainability in a tropical island setting.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering Oversight Lead and coordinate civil and structural works including site grading, drainage systems, roadworks, utility infrastructure, foundations, and reinforced concrete structures. Ensure all designs are adapted for hurricane-resistant construction, seismic conditions, and coastal environmental factors.

Review technical drawings, calculations, and contractor submissions for compliance and quality. Construction Supervision Oversee on-site construction activities to ensure adherence to approved plans, specifications, project schedules, safety standards, and local regulations. Conduct regular inspections and coordinate with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.

Identify and resolve technical issues proactively to maintain progress and quality. Logistics & Project Coordination Manage procurement coordination and material delivery schedules within an island logistics environment. Coordinate local labor teams and subcontractors efficiently. Anticipate and mitigate delays linked to weather, transportation, or supply chain constraints.

Sustainability & Environmental Integration Implement erosion control measures and environmentally responsible construction practices. Support sustainable infrastructure solutions aligned with the project’s eco-luxury vision. Ensure minimal impact on the country natural landscape and ecosystems.

Requirements

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline. Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred. Experience Minimum 5 years of experience in civil construction or infrastructure projects. Previous experience in hospitality, resort developments, island construction, or tropical/coastal projects is highly desirable.

Technical Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete structures, drainage systems, coastal engineering, and resilient design principles. Personal Attributes Practical and solutions-oriented mindset. Ability to adapt to changing site and weather conditions. Strong organizational and communication skills.

Comfortable working in remote and fast-evolving project environments.
