Job description
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Accountant to establish and manage the finance function for a growing manufacturing business in Zambia. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who is comfortable working in a startup environment, taking ownership of financial operations, and building accounting processes from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and maintain the chart of accounts and accounting systems. Develop financial reporting processes and ensure timely reporting. Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger. Process payroll and ensure compliance with local labor regulations. Handle tax filings and ensure compliance with Zambian statutory requirements.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Support budgeting, cash flow management, and financial planning. Collaborate with management to improve financial controls and operational efficiency.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing or FMCG environment. Experience working in Africa is highly preferred but not mandatory. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, payroll, taxation, and statutory compliance. Ability to work independently and establish finance processes from scratch.
Experience with EBizframe ERP is a strong advantage. Candidates with experience using SAP Business One, Sage, or other manufacturing ERP systems are also encouraged to apply.
