As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the design and development of core backend systems that power large-scale, high-performance platforms. You’ll own complex projects end to end, operate with autonomy, and play a key role in shaping the architecture and future direction of high-throughput, low-latency systems.

Key responsibilities
Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant backend systems that power Jio. Star’s tech stack Own end-to-end delivery of complex backend projects, from technical design to deployment and monitoring Drive architectural decisions and influence long-term engineering strategy for the team Build systems with strong observability and monitoring, ensuring system health, uptime, and fast incident response.
Continuously evaluate and adopt relevant technologies. Take ownership of operational excellence, including performance tuning, incident response, and root cause analysis Mentor junior engineers, conduct technical deep dives and code reviews, and foster a culture of knowledge sharing Skills and attributes for success: Proficiency in Java, Golang, or Python Experience designing and building distributed systems at scale Strong understanding of storage systems, query performance, and caching strategies Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), messaging systems (Kafka), and CI/CD pipelines Proven ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage delivery timelines in fast-paced environments You are passionate about growing engineers and leading by example Curious about how advertising systems work and how to optimize them for user and business outcomes Preferred education and experience: Bachelors/master's in computer science or a related field with 6-9 years of development experience
