JOB TITLE : NURSING AND WELLNESS OFFICER The Nursing and Wellness officer is responsible for managing the school sick room, providing first aid and basic medical care to students, maintaining health records, and ensuring a safe and healthy school environment. The role focuses on immediate care, health monitoring, and supporting student well-being within the branch and responsible for promoting wellness within the Organization
- Clinical Care & First Aid Provide immediate first aid and basic nursing care to students and staff for injuries, illnesses, and emergencies Conduct initial health assessments, including monitoring vital signs and identifying symptoms Stabilize patients and arrange referrals to external healthcare providers or hospitals when necessary
- School Sick Room Management Oversee the daily operations of the school sick room, ensuring it is clean, safe, and well-organized Maintain adequate stock levels of medicines, first aid supplies, and medical equipment Ensure proper infection control practices and hygiene standards within the sick room Monitor and record student visits, treatments provided, and recovery progress Provide a safe and comfortable environment for unwell students until they are fit to return to class or are collected by guardians
- Student Health Monitoring & Records Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date medical records of students and staff Track students with chronic illnesses, allergies, or special medical conditions and ensure appropriate care plans are followed Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns when required
- Health Promotion & Wellness Programs Plan and conduct health awareness programs on hygiene, nutrition, mental well-being, and disease prevention Organize health screenings, vaccination programs, and wellness initiatives Promote healthy habits and preventive healthcare among students and staff
- Health Advisory & Support Provide guidance to students and staff on physical and emotional well-being Offer basic counseling and refer complex health or psychological concerns to appropriate professionals Educate students on personal hygiene, safety, and healthy lifestyle practices
- Compliance & Coordination Ensure compliance with school health policies, safety standards, and relevant regulatory requirements Liaise with parents, healthcare providers, and emergency services when needed Support school emergency preparedness, including participation in drills and incident management Requirements Qualifications Diploma or certificate in nursing or a related healthcare field. Valid first aid and CPR certification. A registered nurse qualification will be an added advantage. Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare, school nursing, child care, or a related field. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with children, parents, and staff. Compassionate, patient, and service-orientated approach.
