Our Principal Power System Studies Engineer is part of our team of subject matter experts, a specialized group focused on electrical power system studies and in-depth problem-solving for design modification challenges, industry code compliance, and complex power system vulnerabilities. This team supports a variety of dynamic projects across the company, collaborating with clients in industries such as Nuclear Services, Federal Services, Energy (fossil, renewables, and industrial), Power Delivery, Transmission, and Data Centers.

This group offers diverse project scopes, broad industry exposure, and numerous learning opportunities. We are seeking skilled engineers at all experience levels, from mid-level professionals to seasoned principal engineers. This role can sit out of any of our Kennesaw, GA, Naperville, IL, or Fort Worth, TX office locations. Remote will be considered for candidates that are senior and above.

Responsibilities

Imagine a day where you design and review complex power systems, ensure technical quality, and guide junior engineers. Your expertise keeps projects on track—and your leadership shapes smarter, safer infrastructure. Electrical Studies & Design: Develop electrical studies and design recommendations covering small to large scale power systems for generation, manufacturing, data centers or similar facilities.

Provide recommendations based on expertise in power systems equipment and results of systems studies Quality Assurance: Perform quality reviews for calculations, studies/evaluations, software models, designs, drawings, and data prepared by other engineers or subcontractors Project Execution: Maintain quality, schedule, and budget for assigned tasks with minimal supervision Leadership & Mentorship: Direct and oversee routine and advanced technical work performed by others on assigned projects.

Provide mentorship to less experienced engineers #LI-SH7 Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university MS in a relevant topic of electrical engineering preferred Maintain an active PE license or committed to obtain in near future Must have 10+ years of experience performing electrical studies Ability and willingness to investigate new industry problems and provide creative solutions Significant experience in developing structured engineering reports Experience evaluating large scale power systems following industry accepted electrical codes and standards such as IEEE, IEC, NEC, and NERC Proficiency in understanding highly technical topics in the field of electrical engineering using textbooks, white papers, and industry studies as basis and guidance Experience performing electrical studies such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, equipment protection, and sequence of operation Experience performing high-level studies covering transient stability that includes event ride-through performance of rotating machinery and protective equipment Experience developing device setpoints for topics for overcurrent, over/undervoltage, over/underfrequency, differential protection, distance relaying, or V/Hz protection Experience using power system analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, EMTP-RV, or PSCAD Ability and willingness to investigate new industry problems and provide creative solutions Experience using scripting to manipulate and parse data using Python, VBA, C++, or similar Compensation Range USD $140,000.
