Job description
Our client is seeking an experienced Generator Technician to join the Port Elizabeth team, Perform routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, filter replacements, cooling system flushes) on diesel and petrol generators Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical faults, including engine controllers, AVRs (Automatic Voltage Regulators), and fuel systems Conduct minor engine overhauls and component replacements Assist in the positioning, wiring, and commissioning of new power units and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) Perform load bank testing to ensure systems operate within specified parameters under stress Maintain accurate digital logs of service history, parts used, and site conditions Requirements Grade 12 Trade Tested Electrician Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in generator mechanics or industrial electrical systems Strong understanding of diesel engine mechanics and AC/DC electrical theory Familiarity with controllers such as Deep-Sea Electronics (DSE), Com.
Ap, or Lovato In-depth knowledge of health and safety protocols regarding high-voltage equipment and fuel handling Valid Code EB (or higher) license is essential for site visits Availability for an on-call rotation to handle after-hours emergency repairs
