This position sits within the Markets, Africa team. This role is based in Johannesburg. The Head of Southern Africa will lead and manage ACCA South Africa and provide oversight of Botswana and remotely managed markets to successfully implement ACCA’s strategy across the region. The Job Reporting to the Director, Africa, you’ll be involved in the following: Provide direction, strategic and visionary leadership externally to ACCA stakeholders and internally within the local team to deliver ACCA’s strategy and ensure long-term, strategic positioning of the ACCA brand in the markets Maintain strong working relationship with the IRBA, ensuring audit accreditation is maintained, working closely with teams to nurture and accelerate the growth of future members and registered auditors in South Africa Work with a gility and in cross-functional collaboration with relevant colleagues in Regulation & Conduct, Professional Qualifications and other key ACCA subject matter experts to ensure that the regulatory obligations are identified, delivered and maintained Enhance member value through local partnerships and community initiatives that promote membership retention, growth and satisfaction, and drive stronger brand recognition Determine and advance the employer and relationship management approach in the market Develop and deliver plans for growth across the markets ensuring new student measures and exam entry targets are met Working closely with relevant teams and Education Manager ensure there are robust plans for Student Progression Ensure continued development of ACCA’s reputation and influence through actively pursuing the thought leadership agenda within market Represent ACCA as a key spokesperson in local media in South Africa on subjects in relation to the accountancy profession and ACCA Actively contribute to the Africa regional leadership team, helping to lead, shape and drive the agenda The Person We’re looking for someone who is: A strong leader with impressive commercial, business development, sales, communication and operational skills, with a proven track record of delivering positive results in a membership and or dynamic business environment Able to build effective relationships at the most senior levels and operate successfully in a dynamic environment Confidently guide teams in a culture of continuous delivery and improvement; and optimal delivery through digital Can establish and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships, and credibly engage with, influence and gain the confidence of senior leaders Experience of managing resources and budgets and worked collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver strategic and tactical plans Knowledge and experience of the accounting profession would be desired A professional accounting qualification and knowledge of regulatory frameworks would be advantageous.
