Job description

Role Background: The Academic Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of the Redbricks Primary Years Program (PYP) for Class 1 to Class 6 (This role is similar to the role of a PYP coordinator in an IB or Cambridge school). It involves planning and leading the end-to-end processes for the successful implementation of the academic and holistic program across these grades.

It involves working with multiple stakeholders such as teachers, students, parents, curriculum team, consultants, other academic leadership team members & administrative department members of the school. This role directly reports to the School Principal with a dual reporting and close working relationship with the School’s Founder.

About the School: The school is a PreK–12 institution established in 2009 and affiliated with the CISCE board. It follows a balanced progressive pedagogy that focuses on teaching Indian content through inquiry-based and modern teaching methods. Students are nurtured to become independent thinkers and curious learners, with strong conceptual understanding and transferable skills.

The school also emphasizes character development, helping students build a strong moral compass through a structured socio-emotional program, a community-focused environment, and a positive discipline policy. It has developed its own unique curriculum up to Class 6, preparing students to transition smoothly into any Indian or international board thereafter.

A strong focus is placed on holistic development through activities that enhance physical, socio-emotional, and creative capacities. Initiatives such as student-led exhibitions, design thinking projects, field trips, interactions with visiting experts, and community events like literature festivals contribute to a well-rounded and enriching learning experience for both students and educators.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Academic Planning Play a key role in overall academic planning, including school schedules, policies, and processes, in collaboration with other academic leaders
  2. Curriculum Design Work closely with the curriculum design team to strengthen curriculum development Provide structured feedback and suggestions based on classroom implementation, stakeholder inputs, and student learning outcomes
  3. Program Implementation Ensure robust processes are in place for effective delivery of the academic program by the teaching team Actively monitor implementation through classroom observations, discussions, and tracking of outputs and outcomes Track student learning outcomes and guide teachers to adopt strategies that improve learning effectiveness Oversee identification of students facing academic and/or socio-emotional challenges and ensure appropriate support mechanisms are implemented Monitor student behavioural trends and guide teachers in effectively implementing the school’s positive and restorative discipline approach Support the planning and execution of key student exposure initiatives such as field visits, interactions with visiting experts, and student-led exhibitions
  4. Team Management Plan team requirements and work closely with HR to ensure timely and effective hiring of teachers and team members Lead training and coaching initiatives, while driving ongoing performance management for teachers Supervise and mentor grade-level integrators to ensure strong program execution Support teachers in navigating personal and professional challenges, enabling them to stay motivated and effective Foster a collaborative, learning-oriented, and reflective culture within the teaching team
  5. Parent Collaboration Engage proactively with parents to address queries and resolve concerns related to student learning and behaviour Oversee and strengthen home-school communication between teachers and parents Ensure effective planning and execution of PTMs and parent workshops Drive parent engagement and broader community engagement initiatives
  6. Cross-functional Coordination Collaborate with internal teams across departments and external academic consultants to ensure alignment and seamless execution of school-wide initiatives
  7. Academic Excellence & Continuous Improvement Contribute actively to academic excellence initiatives and continuous improvement projects across the school Working Days and Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday - 8:00 am to 3:30 pm Wednesday - 8:00 am to 4 pm 1st, 2nd, 4th Saturdays - 8:00 am to 2:00 pm Every 3rd Saturday - 8:00 am to 3 pm Requirements Preferred Prior Experience: 8–10 years of teaching experience in Primary or Middle School grades Minimum 5 years of experience in a coordination or leadership role, preferably within an innovative primary education environment Prior leadership experience in an IB or International Cambridge school (e.g., Academic Coordinator or Assistant Academic Coordinator) would be highly relevant High-potential candidates with leadership experience in preschool, high school, or other educational leadership/management roles may also be considered What We Are Looking For: You should bring strong experience and understanding of curriculum planning and supervision of teaching-learning processes. A natural leadership aptitude is essential, along with the ability to guide, support, and motivate teachers effectively. Strong interpersonal skills are critical, as this role involves regular interaction with students, parents, and other stakeholders. This position requires a minimum commitment of 5 years, reflecting the importance of continuity and long-term impact in this role.
