A Private Game Lodge & Spa is seeking a passionate and professional Field Guide to join our hospitality team. Located in a malaria-free private reserve at the foot of the Waterberg Mountains in Limpopo, our exclusive 5-star lodge accommodates a maximum of 20 guests, offering an intimate and highly personalized bushveld experience.
As a Field Guide, you will act as the primary ambassador of our natural environment, delivering exceptional interpretive safaris, guided walks, and historical excursions.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct twice-daily interpretive game drives and guided bush walks tailored to high-end international and local guests. Guest Hosting: Welcome arrivals, manage guest expectations of luxury, and host traditional boma dinners and bushveld picnics. Educational Guiding: Interpret fauna, flora, diverse birdlife, local geology, and the region's rich archaeological history, including ancient rock art.
Vehicle Maintenance: Perform pre-drive safety inspections, ensure vehicle cleanliness, and pack standard hospitality amenities like hot boxes and cooler boxes. Veld Management: Assist management with basic conservation tasks, including bush clearing, road upkeep, and alien vegetation removal.
Requirements
NQF 2 certification, Registrations: Valid DEAT / NDT registration and a current CATHSSETA certificate. Licences: Valid South African driver's licence with a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP). Safety: Valid First Aid certificate and SASSETA Firearm Proficiency / Rifle Competency. Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience operating within a luxury 4 or 5-star safari lodge environment.
Skills: Outstanding communication skills in English, deep knowledge of regional birding, and exceptional 4x4 driving capabilities.
