Job Summary
The Finance Manager / Assistant Finance Manager will support the Senior Finance Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Finance and Accounts Department. The ideal candidate will take ownership of full-set accounting, consolidated financial reporting, product costing, and regulatory compliance, while mentoring a dedicated team to ensure financial accuracy and operational excellence across the group's business units.
Job Responsibilities
Lead and execute the accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated accounts across the group of companies, including handling complex intercompany transactions and eliminations. Corporate Reporting: Generate comprehensive management reporting packs, financial performance disclosures, and ad-hoc financial analysis to provide clear, actionable business insights to the CFO and executive leadership.
Ad-Hoc Finance Operations: Partner with the Senior Finance Manager to oversee day-to-day financial operations, troubleshoot transactional bottlenecks across business units, and drive ad-hoc commercial or operational financial exercises. Bursa & Statutory Compliance: Review and ensure all financial reports strictly comply with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and Bursa Malaysia listing requirements.
Audit & Tax Coordination: Serve as the primary corporate liaison for group statutory audits and tax matters, actively collaborating with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies (e.g., LHDN, Custom Office, Bank Negara). Operational Controls: Review and strengthen internal control structures, banking facilities support, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) across reporting entities to optimize cash flow and financial risk management.
Team Supervision: Guide, mentor, and upskill junior finance subordinates, ensuring high standards of accounting accuracy, operational efficiency, and adherence to tight reporting timelines.
Requirements
Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent professional qualification. Experience: Minimum of 5 to 10 years of solid experience handling full-set accounting, with a strong preference for candidates coming from the retail or FMCG industry. Technical Skills: Highly proficient in accounting software (such as SQL and ERP systems) and Microsoft Office applications.
Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with an exceptional degree of precision and attention to detail. Domain Knowledge: Well-versed in inventory management, cost accounting, and managing high-volume retail transactions. Regulatory Knowledge: Sound understanding of GST/SST regulations and other prevailing local tax laws.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders. Work Style: Proven ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and hit tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
