Head of Client Accounting (recruiting from Malta only)

Our client, a respected organization in Malta, is currently seeking a Head of Client Accounting to join their team. The role is responsible for overseeing the client accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and high-quality service delivery across a diverse client portfolio. The successful candidate will also be responsible for leading the accounting team and driving process improvements within the department.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the client accounting team, including performance management and workload allocation. Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements for a varied client portfolio. Ensure compliance with IFRS, GAPSME, and all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements. Act as escalation point for complex accounting and reporting matters.

Drive improvements in internal processes, controls, and reporting efficiency. Support senior client relationships and maintain high service standards. Coordinate audit processes and liaise with external auditors. Ensure timely VAT, payroll, and statutory reporting obligations. Collaborate with tax, corporate, and advisory teams to deliver integrated client solutions.

Stay updated on accounting standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Experience in a senior accounting or leadership role within a CSP or professional services environment. Proven experience managing accounting teams and client portfolios. Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAPSME, and regulatory compliance frameworks. ACCA qualification or equivalent in Accounting/Finance. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
