Require a Software Developer in Midlands, Zimbabwe

-Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications to support the Department’s teaching, research, and administrative functions. -Develop web-based and mobile applications for academic, research, and community engagement projects. -Collaborate with academic staff and students on software development, innovation, and research projects.

-Provide technical guidance and mentorship to students undertaking software development projects. -Support lecturers and researchers by developing software solutions, prototypes, and research applications. -Maintain and enhance existing departmental software systems and websites. -Develop and integrate databases, APIs, and cloud-based solutions.

-Assist in the development and management of e-learning platforms and other digital learning tools. -Ensure software quality through testing, debugging, documentation, and version control. -Implement software security best practices and maintain secure applications. -Participate in departmental consultancy, innovation, and software commercialization initiatives.

-Keep abreast of emerging software development technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices. -Prepare technical documentation, user manuals, and system documentation. -Provide technical support and user training for developed applications.

Requirements

At least one (1) year of relevant post qualification working experience would be an added advantage. Technical Skills and Experience -Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, PHP, C++, or similar. -Experience with web and mobile application development. -Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, DevOps).

-Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MongoDB. -Familiarity with version control systems such as Git. -Experience with cloud platforms and containerization technologies. -Knowledge of software testing, debugging, and quality assurance practise.
