Accountant (recruiting from Malta only)

Our Client, one of Malta's leading providers of professional business and commercial services, is seeking a motivated and qualified Accountant to join its growing Client Accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality accounting services, ensuring statutory compliance, building strong client relationships, and supporting the development of junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of clients, preparing management accounts, financial statements, VAT returns, and ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines. Coordinate annual audit processes by preparing the required financial information and liaising with auditors. Review financial statements, VAT returns, and accounting work prepared by junior team members to ensure accuracy and quality.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing professional accounting support and responding to financial queries. Mentor and support junior accountants through technical guidance, training, performance monitoring, and regular coaching sessions. Collaborate with management and internal departments to improve processes, maintain compliance standards, and contribute to continuous service excellence.

Requirements

Minimum of two years' experience within a client accounting or professional services environment. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, management accounts, VAT, and statutory compliance requirements. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.

Effective communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and accounting software such as Sage. Licenses & Qualifications Fully qualified through a recognised professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACCA or equivalent).

Excellent command of written and spoken English. Sound understanding of Maltese accounting, VAT, and financial reporting requirements.
