Job description

Main purpose As part of the Accounting & Ledger Control team , the role is responsible for preparing accurate Clean Trial Balances (Local & Group) for Trafigura entities and supporting the team’s accounting and ledger control activities. The position is responsible for general ledger activities, accruals, account reconciliations, financial analysis, data and accounting controls, and monthly Group reporting.

The role works closely with internal stakeholders and external parties to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial information.

Key responsibilities

Prepare and maintain Clean Trial Balances for local and Group reporting, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial information. Perform general ledger activities , including journal entries, accruals, and other accounting adjustments as required. Perform account reconciliations , investigating discrepancies and coordinating with internal teams and external third parties to resolve outstanding items.

Support the preparation of monthly Group reporting and other accounting and financial reporting requirements. Prepare and maintain financial and operational reports, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across reporting requirements. Maintain and perform data and accounting controls to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures.

Analyze accounting and financial information to identify discrepancies, trends, and potential issues requiring further investigation. Document accounting and reporting processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and ways of working. Support internal and external audit requests , providing the required documentation and information within established deadlines.

Participate in system and software development projects , including testing, implementation, and process validation. Execute and follow up on administrative and operational tasks required to support the Accounting & Ledger Control team. Provide flexible support for ad-hoc accounting, reporting, documentation, and analysis requirements .

Required qualifications Minimum 2 years of professional experience in accounting or finance , preferably within a General Ledger, Financial Accounting, Reporting, or similar environment. Bachelor's degree in Accounting , or an advanced student currently close to graduation. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel , including Pivot.

Tables, data analysis, and manipulation of large datasets. Previous experience working with internal and/or external audits . Strong English proficiency , both oral and written, intermediate level or equivalent to B2. Excellent Spanish proficiency , both oral and written, advanced level or equivalent to C2. Attributes for success Meticulous and highly attentive to detail.
