Summary: The Mechanical Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of production and packaging machinery within a manufacturing or FMCG environment. This position is essential for minimizing equipment downtime, supporting operational continuity, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
The technician is responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and the successful installation of new equipment, contributing directly to production uptime and overall plant performance.
Responsibilities
Perform routine preventive maintenance on production and packaging machinery. Diagnose mechanical faults and execute timely repairs to reduce downtime. Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment. Identify root causes of equipment breakdowns and implement effective corrective actions. Collaborate with electrical and production teams to resolve technical issues.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and company policies. Maintain clean, organized, and safe working conditions in the workshop and production areas. Record maintenance activities, repairs, and spare parts usage accurately. Report recurring equipment issues and provide recommendations for improvement.
