Environmental Operator (recruiting from Malta)

Our Client, Malta’s leading environmental services company, is seeking a dedicated and reliable Environmental Technician to join its operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the safe handling, removal, transportation, and disposal of asbestos materials and various hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.

This role requires a strong commitment to health and safety standards, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in operational environments. Recruiting applicants already residing in Malta.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out the collection, segregation, packaging, and preparation of waste materials from different waste generators. Perform dismantling, waste removal activities, and decontamination of work areas in line with company procedures and safety requirements. Safely handle, load, label, and prepare waste containers for transportation and disposal.

Ensure the correct use, cleaning, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE), decontamination equipment, and operational tools. Support daily site operations by collecting required consumables, preparing equipment, and maintaining work areas to a high standard. Operate company vehicles and equipment responsibly while following all internal policies, health and safety regulations, and environmental procedures.

Requirements

A good level of spoken English and the ability to communicate effectively within a team environment. Previous experience in environmental services, waste management, construction, industrial cleaning, or a related field will be considered an advantage. A strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices and the ability to follow strict operational procedures.

A responsible and safety-focused approach when handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials. The ability to work outdoors, perform physical tasks, and adapt to different operational environments. Good teamwork skills, reliability, and willingness to support various day-to-day company activities. Licenses & Qualifications Valid Maltese or EU Category B Driving Licence.

Forklift Driving Licence. Cherry Picker / MEWP Licence. Training or certification related to asbestos handling, waste management, or environmental safety.
