Job description
Summary This role is the cornerstone of financial integrity and strategic insight within a company undergoing transformation. As the financial intelligence engine, the incumbent ensures disciplined revenue management while enabling sustainable growth. By delivering timely, accurate financial reporting and forward-looking analysis, the position empowers leadership with actionable insights to drive performance, mitigate risk, and optimize resource allocation.
The role demands precision, strategic foresight, and operational excellence across all financial functions—from bookkeeping and compliance to forecasting, budgeting, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
Produce comprehensive monthly management accounts, including P&L by service line, cost variance analysis, and strategic recommendations. Deliver quarterly financial reviews covering full P&L, cash position, and forecast accuracy, with clear insights for executive decision-making. Maintain and update the rolling financial model with monthly actuals; develop scenario models (base, growth, risk) and unit economics for new service lines or client proposals within agreed timelines.
Lead the annual budget process: collect HOD inputs, consolidate the budget, present for CEO approval, and monitor performance monthly, including tracking revenue diversification across service lines. Own all bookkeeping functions—chart of accounts, fixed asset register, bank reconciliations, and journal entries—within the company’s accounting software, structured by service line, with all financial documentation consistently filed in SharePoint and accessible to the CEO and auditors.
Manage end-to-end invoicing across clients and currencies, enforce payment follow-ups within agreed timelines, update accounts receivable in the financial model, and maintain a rolling cash flow forecast with early warnings for cash pressure. Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring correct tax and pension deductions; handle petty cash and expense claims within defined service levels.
Own all tax and statutory filings (VAT, CIT, PAYE, pension), submit on time, and manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors for annual accounts, audit readiness, and tax planning. Monitor foreign exchange exposure on hard-currency client revenue; advise on optimal Naira conversion timing and manage multi-currency reconciliation and payout optimization via international payment platforms.
Ensure all financial records comply with data protection standards and build structured ROI cases for all significant expenditures prior to CEO approval. Integrate the accounting system with the financial model to enable automatic flow of actuals; own the finance component of staff onboarding—ensuring bank details, pension enrollment, expense policy, and payroll setup are completed before each new hire’s first day.
