Carilion Clinic Breast Care Center is adding a Breast Imager to its comprehensive program of dedicated expertise in breast imaging, surgery, pathology and operations. A highly innovative practice environment exists in collaboration with the Virginia Tech School of Medicine. The position includes the opportunity to teach and mentor medical students as well as to conduct original clinical research in a mutually supportive environment with core specialties. However, research is not required.
Other aspects of the Breast Care Center include: � Nationally recognized quality program � Five outreach screening locations � 27,000 screening mammograms annually � 35,000 exams annually � Dedicated diagnostic center, 8,500 square feet with new Cancer Center opening 2027 � Separate interpretation areas within the diagnostic center for optimal environment for breast interpretation.
Programmatic advances include high risk genetics program with dedicated genetics counselor, two interdisciplinary patient care conferences, and continuous evolution through a committed Breast Program Leadership Team. Comprehensive services provide prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and research in collaboration with other departments within our flagship 763-bed teaching/tertiary medical center.
Breast Center procedures include: � Screening mammograms (3D) � Diagnostic mammograms (3D) � Ultrasound � US Invasive procedures: needle localization, needle core biopsy, and cyst aspiration � Stereotactic imaging for core biopsy � Galactography � Breast MRI � MR guided core biopsies.
