Collects, evaluates, and assists in the PI program, demonstrating progress towards benchmarks. Provides Phase I cardiac education for inpatients referred to Cardiopulmonary Wellness Services and assists in Phase II and Phase III Cardiopulmonary Wellness, including initial evaluation and concurrent sessions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Performs medication reconciliation for outpatients by reviewing home medications with patients before administering sedatives. Monitors, recognizes, and communicates electrocardiographic/hemodynamic changes to physicians and appropriate staff throughout procedures and pre/post care. Performs general noninvasive cardiology procedures such as stress tests, EKGs, tilt table exams, and holter scanning.
Performs and documents accurate initial assessments per unit standards, including initial observation, obtaining and interpreting information, and reporting appropriate information to physicians or supervisors. Observes and monitors patient lab work for trends, reports abnormal lab tests to physicians, and obtains appropriate interventions.
Demonstrates critical-thinking skills when analyzing basic and advanced cardiac rhythms safely, competently, and independently. Demonstrates knowledge and ability in preparing patients for tests, procedures, and surgeries ordered. Assists radiologists, cardiologists, or attending physicians in performing sterile procedures, including prepping and draping patients, scrubbing, and circulating during invasive procedures.
Adheres to approved standards of sterile/aseptic technique, utilizing equipment and supplies safely and prudently. Grow with us. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language extensively. [Required] Guidelines, policies and protocols are available but employee must be able to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment in both routine and critical situations.
Prioritization of multiple often-conflicting patient care responsibilities is required. [Required] Must demonstrate tactfulness, diplomacy, and courtesy. [Required] Demonstrates the willingness to maintain a harmonious relationship with Physicians, team members and other staff and patients with internal and external staff assisting and collaborating for effective and efficient care of the patient.
[Required] Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice. Thorough knowledge of techniques and methods specific to Diagnostic Lab. [Required] Knowledge of literature and new developments in the nursing field, with emphasis on Cardiac and Interventional Radiological procedures. [Required] Must be able to work closely with co-workers and medical staff in a team environment.
[Required] Must be able to maneuver quickly in response to emergencies. [Required] Secondary language useful but not necessary. [Preferred] Education: Associate's of Nursing [Required] Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred] Work Experience: 1+ years hospital experience [Required] 2+ years critical care or emergency room experience.
[Preferred] Must have experience in hemodynamic monitoring to include pressure and waveform recognition, cardiac arrhythmia recognition and cardiac pharmacology. [Preferred] Licenses and Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required] Basic Life Support
