Designation: Hydraulic Technician Department: Plant & Machinery (P&M) / Equipment Maintenance Location: Tanzania, East Africa Experience: Minimum 5 Years (Heavy Equipment/Construction Machinery) Qualification: ITI / Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred) Industry: Construction / Infrastructure / Heavy Equipment Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Hydraulic Technician to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems and heavy construction equipment.

The candidate should have strong expertise in hydraulic troubleshooting, engine maintenance, preventive maintenance, and breakdown repairs of construction machinery to ensure maximum equipment availability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic systems and components. Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of heavy construction equipment. Repair and overhaul hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, and control systems. Maintain and troubleshoot diesel engines used in hydraulic equipment. Read and interpret hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical schematics.

Carry out hydraulic hose routing, piping, flushing, and commissioning activities. Perform pressure testing, leakage testing, and system performance checks. Install, erect, and commission hydraulic machinery at project sites. Maintain hydraulic drilling rigs, excavators, boom placers, batching plants, grouting equipment, concrete pumps, compressors, and hydraulic power packs.

Identify equipment faults and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime. Carry out engine overhauling, tuning, and troubleshooting. Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and spare parts inventory. Coordinate with site engineers, workshop teams, and operations for equipment availability. Ensure compliance with safety standards, SOPs, and company maintenance procedures.

Recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability and performance.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Hydraulic Technician. Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, circuits, and hydraulic components. Experience in heavy equipment and construction machinery maintenance. Hands-on experience in engine repair, overhauling, tuning, and troubleshooting. Ability to read hydraulic and mechanical drawings.

Experience in preventive and breakdown maintenance. Knowledge of hydraulic pumps, cylinders, motors, valves, and control systems. Experience in hydraulic drilling rigs and excavators. Knowledge of hydraulic hose routing, piping, and commissioning. Ability to perform hydraulic pressure testing and performance testing. Knowledge of maintenance documentation and spare parts management.

Familiarity with maintenance safety standards and SOPs. Willingness to relocate and work in Tanzania. Valid passport or willingness to obtain one. Preferred Requirements Experience in the Construction, Infrastructure, Mining, or Heavy Equipment industry. Experience in machine erection and site commissioning. Knowledge of hydraulic power packs, compressors, boom placers, batching plants, grouting equipment, and concrete pumps.

Basic knowledge of welding, fabrication, and fitting. Good communication and coordination skills. Ability to work independently in remote project locations.
