We are looking for Head of Process Engineering to join our industry-leading team at our European office, located in Frankfurt, Germany .
We are seeking an experienced Head of Process Engineering to lead a multidisciplinary team of chemical, biochemical, and process safety engineers. In this role, you will drive technical excellence, support project delivery, and develop a high performing, future ready department.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop the Process Engineering team, ensuring strong succession planning and professional growth. Oversee the delivery of high-quality engineering outputs across projects and regions. Define project execution strategies, including scope, budgets, schedules, and resource planning. Assign and manage engineering resources to ensure cost-effective, timely project delivery.
Guide the development of process deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, mass/energy balances, equipment specifications, and process safety assessments. Support business development through technical input, proposals, and client engagement. Maintain and improve engineering standards, tools, workflows, and procedures. Ensure compliance with cGMP, relevant codes, and client requirements.
Collaborate across offices to align practices and optimise resource utilisation. Lead recruitment, performance management, and team capability development. Build strong client relationships and represent the Process discipline in cross-functional forums. Why IPS? Qualifications
& Requirements Minimum 10 years of process design and/or operations experience in pharmaceutical or biotech facilities (e.g., biologics, vaccines, API, OSD, parenteral, CGT). Degree in a relevant engineering discipline; Chartered Engineer status or equivalent preferred. Strong understanding of cGMP and regulatory expectations.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop engineering talent. Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, man-hours, and project targets. Proficiency with process engineering tools (e.g., simulation, fluid flow, process safety, smart P&IDs, 3D modelling).
Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment. Willingness to travel as needed. All interviews are conducted either in person or virtually, with video required.
