Agency: Carmichael Lynch Job Function: Creative Job Subfunction: Art Direction Job Description: We are currently seeking an Art Director to join our team! Summary of the Job: Carmichael Lynch is looking to add an Art Director to our creative team, servicing multiple clients with a partnered copywriter. Our next Art Director will be responsible for concepting and executing creative campaigns across various visual mediums including online video, social, influencer, digital media, and experiential.

They will also be responsible for working with writers, creative directors, project managers, producers, and account managers to ensure that our clients needs are translated effectively through strategic creative. We expect our next Art Director to have hands-on experience executing creative concepting and execution of creative across all platforms, ensuring expert composition, tie-in to strategy, and beautiful design.

We are looking for a new addition to our department that is driven, detail oriented, collaborative, and constantly pushing their personal and professional skillsets to expand and refine their art direction and design craft. This Art Director will work with one or more copywriting partners and will have the opportunity to float across many of our creative clients.

Essential Functions/Principal Accountabilities of the Job: Day-to-day responsibilities of the Art Director include but are not limited to: Play a central and energetic role on the creative side of assigned accounts, taking responsibility for major campaigns and brand communications including (but not limited to) video, digital, social, experiential, and brand design in collaboration with writers, prioritizing craft and execution that is in-line with client brand, visual identity, campaign objectives, and big-picture business goals.

Develop a strong understanding of assigned client businesses with guidance from your creative directors, account managers, planners, and project managers. Brings great design taste, strong presentation skills, and ease of communication. Communicates and collaborates effectively with integrated teams. Actively ideates and pitches integrated campaign ideas for designated client(s) to Creative Directors.

Contributes to internal agency projects in support of company events, our internship program, and more. Actively participates in the Minneapolis advertising community by attending seminars, volunteering for CL-sponsored events, and referring your best and the brightest creative peers to the agency. Actively participates in and contributes to Carmichael Lynch’s culture by attending company-wide events, jumping at opportunities to celebrate your colleagues, and maintaining a positive, inclusive, all-in attitude.

Note: These are the major functions and accountabilities required of the position and are the predominant criteria by which performance will be assessed. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED. Working Relationships, Autonomy, and Supervision: Any Art Director at Carmichael Lynch will thoughtfully collaborate with all employees of Carmichael Lynch.

For this role, you will regularly work with the following teams: Creative, Project Management, Account Management, Social Strategy, Brand Planning, PR, Production, Studio, and Content Lab. Management/project oversight comes from: Creative Director(s). Assigned projects come from: Director of Creative Operations. Required Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge: Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in advertising, visual art, or a closely-related field.

Skills and Experience : A minimum of 4+ years experience and a portfolio that makes creatives do a double-take. Mid-level client contact experience is required. Strong leadership abilities are a must. An affinity for disruptive social is welcomed. Production experience is celebrated. Association with highly awarded creative output is prioritized.

The salary range for this position is listed below. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to budget, relevant experience, qualifications, and tenure in similar roles. Consideration may also be given to internal salary data for current or former employees in the same or similar positions.

Salary Range: $65,000 - 80,000 annually

$65,000 - $ 80,000 Omnicom’s policy requires employees to work in the office for a minimum of three days a week, unless additional in-office days are directed by their agency or manager. Our objective is to increase this requirement over time, and many of our agencies as well as Omnicom’s corporate group already require five days of in-office attendance.
