Overview

Responsibilities This position operates within Infirmary Health (IH) guidelines with the goal of enhancing the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation by performing concurrent reviews of medical records to ensure accurate inpatient coding and appropriate DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) assignment, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and supporting the timely and accurate capture of data to enhance patient outcomes.

Qualifications

One of the following: Graduation from an accredited RN program with recent hospital experience Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) ALSO: 1 or more years’ experience working in Clinical Documentation Improvement Completed Clinical Documentation Improvement Bootcamp Working knowledge of federal, state and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding and reimbursement Working knowledge of data analysis and personal computer spreadsheet software Well-developed leadership and interpersonal skills Polished presentation skills Well-developed written and oral communications skills Desired Qualifications: One of the following: Current Alabama RN license Current Multi State RN License in accordance with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama* Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) *Infirmary Health abides by the NLC requirements and guidelines for the state of Alabama This position operates within Infirmary Health (IH) guidelines with the goal of enhancing the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation by performing concurrent reviews of medical records to ensure accurate inpatient coding and appropriate DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) assignment, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and supporting the timely and accurate capture of data to enhance patient outcomes.
