Job Summary
As a Sustainability Engineer within the Group Sustainability team, you will be pivotal in shaping the organization’s green roadmap. You will bridge the gap between corporate strategy and plant operations, ensuring data-driven compliance and pioneering new initiatives in carbon footprint reduction and social responsibility.
Job Responsibilities
Plan and oversee sustainability management activities across the entire Group of companies to ensure alignment with corporate goals. Data Governance: Lead the collection and collation of qualitative and quantitative sustainability data to support transparent reporting and performance tracking. Compliance & Auditing: Conduct regular site assessments to identify implementation gaps and advise management on corrective actions for regulatory compliance.
Operational Integration: Collaborate directly with plant operation teams to develop and execute actionable sustainability roadmaps. Environmental Conservation: Spearhead improvements in resource management, including water security, air pollution control, recycling, and waste reduction. Research & Innovation: Identify and investigate critical areas such as renewable energy, climate change, and carbon footprint optimization.
Social Impact & Advocacy: Analyze human influence on the environment and advise departments on human rights and social impact requirements. Stakeholder Advisory: Act as a consultant to internal policymakers regarding environmental best practices and emerging global standards.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Engineering, or a related Sustainability field. Experience: A minimum of 2–3 years of proven experience in the environmental or sustainability sector. Fresh graduates are highly encouraged to apply. Internship experience in ESG, carbon footprinting, or ISO standards is a plus.
Technical Knowledge: Deep familiarity with local and international environmental standards, with specific expertise in Climate Change, Pollution Control, and Resource Management. Soft Skills: Analytical mindset with creative problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision. Communication: Proficiency in Mandarin, English and Bahasa Malaysia is essential for technical reporting; the ability to speak Mandarin is a significant advantage.
Mobility: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and a willingness to travel to various sites as required.
