Horticultural Production Assistants - Fruits and Vegetables

JOB DESCRIPTION:To support the production, maintenance, harvesting, and post-harvest handling of fruits and vegetables through good agricultural practices, ensuring quality produce, efficient farm operations, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Support

• Assist in land preparation, planting, transplanting, and crop establishment activities.
• Support irrigation, fertilization, mulching, pruning, staking, and weeding operations.
• Monitor crop growth and report pest, disease, or nutrient deficiency issues to supervisors.
• Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other agro-inputs according to instructions and safety procedures.
• Maintain nurseries and seedling production areas. Harvesting and Post-Harvest Handling
• Assist in harvesting fruits and vegetables at the appropriate maturity stage.
• Sort, grade, clean, package, and store produce according to quality standards.
• Reduce post-harvest losses through proper handling and storage practices.
• Support loading and transportation of produce when required.
