Position Summary

The Manager of People & Culture is responsible for leading the People & Culture function at Avani Windhoek Hotel & Casino, ensuring the delivery of an exceptional team member experience while driving business performance through effective people strategies. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, learning and development, performance management, employee engagement, industrial relations, compensation and benefits, succession planning, compliance, and organisational culture.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted business partner to the General Manager and Executive Committee, supporting the achievement of the hotel's commercial and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partner Partner with the General Manager and Executive Committee to develop and implement people strategies aligned with business objectives. Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on performance, talent management, organisational design and employee relations. Analyse workforce metrics and recommend initiatives that improve productivity, retention and engagement.

Champion the Minor Hotels culture, values and leadership behaviours. Talent Acquisition Lead all recruitment activities from workforce planning through onboarding. Develop talent pipelines and promote internal mobility. Ensure a positive candidate experience and timely recruitment of quality talent. Build relationships with hospitality schools, universities and local communities.

Performance Management Drive the performance management cycle, including goal setting, reviews and development planning. Coach managers on effective performance conversations. Support implementation of merit and recognition programmes. Employee Relations Foster positive employee relations through fair and consistent people practices.

Manage disciplinary processes, grievances and investigations. Maintain constructive relationships with employee representatives and labour stakeholders. Promote an inclusive, respectful and high-performing workplace.

Compensation

& Benefits Support salary benchmarking and workforce planning. Ensure payroll inputs are accurate and submitted on time. Monitor labour costs and staffing levels in line with budgets. Compliance & Governance Ensure compliance with Namibian labour legislation and employment regulations. Maintain accurate employee records and HR reporting.

Support internal and external audits. Ensure compliance with Minor Hotels policies and standards. Employee Engagement & Wellbeing Lead employee engagement initiatives and recognition programmes. Coordinate wellness activities and internal communication. Drive Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives. Promote a safe and healthy working environment.

Systems & Reporting Maintain accurate employee information within Workday and other HR systems. Produce HR dashboards and reports to support business decision-making. Monitor KPIs including turnover, absenteeism, recruitment, engagement, productivity and training compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration or related field. Postgraduate qualification is advantageous. Experience Minimum 5 years' progressive Human Resources experience within hospitality or a service-driven industry. At least 2 years in a management position. Experience working with HRIS systems such as Workday is advantageous.
