Senior Specialist Nurse, Operation Theatre

Provide advanced perioperative nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures in accordance with clinical standards and Post Basic competencies Function independently as Scrub Nurse and Circulating Nurse for various surgical specialties Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during operative procedures, ensuring smooth workflow and patient safety Prepare, check, and maintain operating theatre environment, surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques, infection prevention and control measures at all times Perform accurate surgical instrument, swab, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures Monitor and assess patients’ intra-operative condition and escalate any clinical concerns promptly Ensure proper handling, cleaning, sterilisation, and storage of surgical instruments and equipment Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of perioperative nursing care and procedures Provide supervision, guidance, and clinical support to junior nurses and theatre support staff Participate in training, audits, quality improvement initiatives, and implementation of best practices Support emergency and after-hours surgical cases, including on-call duties as required Comply with hospital policies, professional nursing standards, and statutory requirements
