** Position Summary **
Summary: The lactation consultant assumes responsibility for the nursing care provided to breastfeeding patients and their families. The role of lactation consultant includes: assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care in a variety of situations anticipatory guidance and prevention of problems, complete, accurate, and timely documentation of care communication and collaboration with other health care professionals

Education Required • Must complete in-house orientation program • Bachelor's Degree required
Experience And Skills • Excellent interpersonal skills • Speaks, reads and writes English • Clinical experience and/or skills relevant to the assigned area of practice. • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills. • Computer proficiency.
License/Certifications • Certifications for assigned area of practice. • IBCLC strongly preferred. In leu of IBCLC, a certified breastfeeding counselor (CBC) or a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) certification is required. IBCLC must be obtained within one year.
