Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly specialized, execution-focused Subject Matter Expert (SME) – AMI Data Governance & Compliance to architect, operationalize, and scale our global data management framework for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). As our enterprise accelerates grid modernization, managing millions of smart endpoints generating massive, high-velocity data payloads (interval usage, voltage profiles, and edge alerts) requires strict governance.

This role is a technical, non-administrative SME position located in our India delivery hub. You will serve as the premier authority balancing rapid data-driven innovation with utility-grade data protection, compliance, and edge analytics governance.

Key Responsibilities

& Functional Objectives AMI Data Ownership & Stewardship: Design and deploy a comprehensive data governance framework that establishes clear protocols for Data Ownership and Stewardship across Customer Service, Grid Operations, and Enterprise Analytics divisions. AMI Data Quality & VEE Engineering: Architect automated, near-real-time profiling, cleansing, and validation routines—including Validation, Estimation, and Editing (VEE) parameters—to guarantee high-integrity downstream business intelligence and billing.

Data Protection & Privacy Engineering: Partner with global Information Security teams to embed robust data protection frameworks, advanced encryption (in transit and at rest), and Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC) safeguarding sensitive Customer Energy Usage Data (CEUD). Metadata Management & Data Cataloging: Oversee the technical implementation of an automated, enterprise-scale Metadata & Data Catalog to systematically index diverse device telemetry, firmware configurations, and evolving grid topology assets.

IoT & Telemetry Data Lineage: Map comprehensive, end-to-end technical data lineage from the smart meter endpoint and head-end systems (HES), through the Meter Data Management System (MDMS), down to operational dashboards and compliance reporting layers. Grid AI and Analytics Governance: Establish scalable, ethical guardrails for the validation, continuous monitoring, drift detection, and lifecycle management of predictive AI models, theft detection algorithms, and load forecasting pipelines.

Massive-Scale Retention & Archival Strategy: Modernize corporate records management policies by engineering cost-effective Data Retention & Archival strategies (hot/cold/frozen tiering models) capable of optimizing petabyte-scale historical interval data footprints.

Requirements

12+ years of progressive technology experience, with a heavy emphasis on serving as an SME or Principal Architect managing high-volume data architecture, IoT/telemetry streaming pipelines, or global utility delivery systems. Domain Expertise: Documented success implementing data governance blueprints, data quality gates, and data cataloging solutions within heavy data-delivery systems or grid modernization initiatives.

Technical Ecosystem: Deep structural familiarity with data engineering concepts across modern cloud platforms or big data streaming frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Spark, Databricks) applied to telemetry datasets.

Education

Master’s degree or equivalent technical experience in Computer Applications, Computer Science, Data Architecture, or a related field.
