  • Day (United States of America) Hours Per Pay Period: 80 Job Description: Pay range: $60.24 - $90.51 Under the supervision of the Director, Nursing
  • Critical Care, the ECMO & ICU Specialty Program Manager oversees the day-to-day coordination of the ECMO Program and other ICU specialties such as CRRT, IABP, Impella, CABG, and TTM. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to design, implement and measure safe, cost-effective, evidence-based ECMO and specialty strategies. Collaborates with Leadership, CNS and Educator to manage staffing and the continuous education of ECMO specialists, physicians, advanced practice providers, registered nurses, and respiratory therapists in the care of ECMO patients and other ICU specialties. Responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of ECMO and other specialty care patients in the ICU. Responsible for appropriate selection of equipment and techniques to be used, and to ensure the safe management of physiologic functions. Responsible for ECMO and ICU Specialty quality and process improvement projects and initiatives including data collection and analysis for internal and/or external benchmarking. Follows established protocols and develops and implements new protocols as required. Maintains care delivery systems and teams to meet patient care needs. Establishes a plan for the delivery of quality care, including the development of protocols and participation in research efforts. Responsible for overseeing Specialist FTEs and maintains a 24-hour staffing plan and schedule that meets patient and unit needs, in collaboration with the ICU nurse manager. Maintains regular communication and serves as a liaison between other ECMO hospitals, receiving hospitals, San Diego County, and other related members of the team in order to ensure appropriate treatment for patients requiring ECMO. Requires 24-hour accountability for ECMO and ICU specialty related operations. Uses a collaborative approach to ensure mutual cooperation of multidisciplinary teams supporting the goals for the ECMO and ICU specialty patient populations. In collaboration with leadership, maintains an active role with financial management of the program, including the capital equipment process. Responsible for coordinating the development and maintenance of a competency assessment system for multidisciplinary team caring for ECMO and ICU specialty patients, including ECMO specialists, physicians, advance practice providers, registered nurses, respiratory therapists. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Facilitates ELSO application and certification process as well as any other critical care program certifications or databases. Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Job Requirements Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred Education: Masters Degree in Nursing Preferred Experience: 5 years as an ECMO Specialist Preferred Experience: 1 year as an ECMO Coordinator Required Certification: American Heart Association recognized Advanced Cardiac Life Support American Heart Association recognized BLS
