Job description

This role is part of the Financial and Statutory Reporting team, a sub-function of the global Finance team. The core accountability is to manage and support the preparation of multiple financial and statutory reports and public disclosures in compliance with Hong Kong Stock Exchange (“HKSE”), local in-country regulations and the requirements of MMG’s major shareholder China Minmetals Non-ferrous (“CMN”) including the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (“SASAC”).

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Financial and statutory reporting o Support the preparation of public disclosures of MMG (a HKSE listed entity) financial statements. o Manage the preparation of multiple stand-alone annual/bi-annual financial statements in accordance with local statutory requirements or special purpose requirements from MMG stakeholders. o Manage and support the preparation of monthly and annual 97 (久其) reports in accordance with CMN & SASAC. o Perform the variance analysis of financial data. o Identify improvement opportunities in the workflow and financial systems.
  • Requirements from MMG stakeholders o Support to provide high-quality responses to CMN financial team. o Serve as a trusted business partner and collaborate with business units in Australia, Laos, Africa, Peru to support MMG projects from the financial perspective. o Present and explain details/results to senior management and colleagues in a clear way. o Provide assistance across the Finance team proactively where possible, as required and directed by your line manager/supervisor. Required Capabilities: Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in finance with a focus of financial reporting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to research and solve technical accounting and financial reporting issues.
  • Advanced Excel & Word and data/information presentation skills.
  • Thoroughness and strong attention to detail.
  • Good written and spoken English is essential, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly. Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of IFRS, HKFRS and local GAAP equivalents, Statutory and regulatory requirements – e.g. HKSE listing rules, IFRIC pronouncements, SASAC regulations.
  • Understanding the financial information analysis process.
  • Understanding of consolidation process is preferred. Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years’ overall experience in financial and statutory reporting.
  • Experience in listed companies, multinational corporations and chartered firm (Big 4 or global second tier) for mining and energy industries will be preferred.
  • Experience in ERP system (e.g. SAP, BW, BPC) and 97 system will be preferred. Education, Qualifications, Tickets, Licences:
  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in Accounting or Financial discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA or equivalent).
  • Certificate or specialised qualification in International Financial Reporting will be highly desirable.
