Job description
-Manage and maintain computer laboratories and ICT equipment. -Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and networks. -Provide technical support to staff and students during teaching, research, and examinations. -Maintain servers, operating systems, databases, and cybersecurity measures. -Ensure the availability, functionality, and security of laboratory resources.
-Assist with the procurement, inventory management, and maintenance of ICT equipment and software. -Supervise and mentor technical staff and laboratory assistants. -Develop and maintain technical documentation, maintenance records, and asset registers. -Ensure compliance with health, safety, and ICT policies. -Support departmental research, innovation, and digital transformation initiatives.
-Liaise with the University’s ICT Department and external service providers on technical matters. -Keep abreast of emerging technologies and recommend improvements to ICT infrastructure and laboratory services.
Requirements
-Must have a National Diploma in Computer Studies, or an equivalent in the related field. -Must have a BSc Honours Degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering or an equivalent in the related field. -At least three (3) years of relevant post qualification working experience would be an added advantage. Expected Skills and Competencies The successful candidate should demonstrate proficiency in computer hardware and software maintenance, network administration, server management, laboratory management, cybersecurity, and ICT infrastructure support.
The candidate should possess strong troubleshooting, supervisory, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to support teaching, research, and administrative activities within the Department of Computer Science.
