Job description

Company Overview Our client is a global pioneer and market leader in specialized industrial IoT (IIoT) ecosystems, remote environmental control systems, and automated bulk-material handling machinery. Operating in over 100 countries, they design and integrate highly sophisticated edge-to-cloud platforms, ruggedized machinery, and remote monitoring networks that optimize global industrial supply chains and processing facilities.

With their regional Asia-Pacific headquarters based in Malaysia, they are seeking a highly skilled technical specialist to drive engineering-level support and network integrity across their regional deployments. Mission The Senior Regional Systems & Connectivity Engineer serves as the ultimate escalation-level technical authority for complex hardware, software, and network communication architectures within the APAC region.

This role bridges the gap between field service teams, regional project leads, and global R&D centers. You will ensure that advanced, data-driven control systems communicate seamlessly from ruggedized remote edge devices and local gateways to secure cloud platforms, maintaining peak system reliability in demanding, decentralized field environments.

Key Responsibilities

& Activities

  1. Advanced Technical Support & Escalation Management Tier-3 Troubleshooting: Resolve highly complex, escalated hardware, software, system-level, and data connectivity bottlenecks encountered by country-level engineering teams. Network Diagnoses: Troubleshoot and optimize advanced remote-site network topologies, resolving complex issues related to LAN, industrial Wi-Fi setups, cellular/satellite gateways, network switches, routers, long-range wireless links, and signal interference. Root Cause Investigation: Lead deep-dive root cause analyses (RCA) for systemic technical product failures, collaborating closely with Global and Regional Engineering teams and international component suppliers to deploy permanent corrective measures. Critical Interventions: Provide high-level technical oversight, remote diagnostics, and on-site validation for strategic, large-scale system deployments, pilot launches, and critical go-live operations.
  2. System Deployment & Engineering Quality Assurance Commissioning Validation: Audit and validate complex system installations completed by regional partners and local technical teams to ensure strict alignment with global engineering blueprints. Connectivity Architecture: Guarantee robust, stable, and secure end-to-end data communication pipelines linking remote sensors, environmental controllers, edge gateways, and proprietary cloud management systems. Performance Testing: Oversee and sign off on technical acceptance parameters, system integration tests, and performance verifications at flagship client facilities.
  3. Regional Standards & Compliance Governance Technical Standardization: Design, refine, and maintain regional standard operating procedures (SOPs), installation manuals, troubleshooting checklists, and network topology standards. Capability Building: Formulate technical training material and deliver advanced workshops to upskill country-level technical teams, ensuring unified deployment standards across all APAC markets. Compliance Audits: Conduct technical field audits at active project sites to verify process compliance, locate engineering gaps, and identify opportunities for proactive improvements.
  4. Solution Design & Sales Engineering Advisory Tender & Bid Support: Collaborate with Regional Sales and Quotation departments to assess technical feasibility and construct custom layouts for non-standard or highly complex system architectures. Architectural Guidance: Propose reliable, scalable network structures and equipment configurations tailored to unique physical site landscapes and operational parameters. Pre-Sales Engagement: Clarify technical assumptions, detail engineering boundaries, and define project scopes for corporate clients during the pre-sales bid phase.
  5. Continuous Product Improvement & Cross-Border Collaboration Voice of the Market: Systematically capture, structure, and translate technical feedback from plant operators, regional operations, and field teams into actionable product enhancement suggestions for R&D. Firmware & Hardware Validation: Actively participate in the physical testing and validation of beta software patches, firmware updates, and new hardware components prior to regional rollout. Knowledge Management: Foster cross-country knowledge transfers, documenting and sharing recurring issues, field workarounds, and technical best practices throughout the regional ecosystem.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics), Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. Professional Background: 3+ years of progressive experience in technical support, system integration, product engineering, or field application engineering roles. Industry Domain: Experience with industrial automation, industrial IoT (IIoT), SCADA, remote environmental monitoring, or complex machine-to-machine (M2M) communication networks is highly preferred.

Regional Exposure: Prior experience providing regional or multi-country technical support is highly advantageous. Technical Competencies Troubleshooting Mastery: Exceptional capability in diagnosing integrated hardware-software defects and debugging industrial IoT systems. Industrial Networking: Advanced knowledge of industrial networking protocols, routers, switches, gateways, Wi-Fi optimization, and long-range telecommunications.

System Integration: Hands-on experience configuring and integrating physical sensors, electronic controllers, data loggers, and centralized software dashboards. Cloud & Edge Analytics: Solid understanding of device-to-cloud communication paradigms, database structures, and cloud-based data management systems. Mobility & Attributes Field Adaptability: Willingness to travel across regional APAC industrial zones and country offices (for troubleshooting, auditing, and hands-on training), with the physical resilience to work effectively in demanding and rugged field environments.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written English skills to communicate complex technical topics clearly to both local operators and international global R&D engineers.
