Butcher (recruiting from Malta only)

Our client, one of Malta's leading companies, is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Butcher to join its growing team. As a Butcher, you will be responsible for the preparation, handling, and display of fresh meat products while ensuring customers receive professional advice and outstanding service. Working closely with the wider team, you will help maintain food safety standards, stock quality, and an attractive butcher counter that reflects the company's commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, cut, trim, portion, and package meat products according to company standards. Assist customers with product selection, provide cooking advice, and deliver exceptional customer service. Maintain an attractive, fully stocked, and well-organised butcher counter. Ensure strict compliance with food safety, HACCP, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.

Monitor product freshness, stock rotation, and minimise waste through effective inventory management. Receive deliveries, inspect product quality, and store goods correctly. Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Butcher, Butcher Assistant, or within a meat retail or food production environment. Good knowledge of meat cuts, preparation techniques, and food handling procedures. Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP principles. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required. A positive attitude, reliability, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Licenses & Qualifications Food Handling Licence (or willingness to obtain one). HACCP/Food Safety certification will be considered an asset. Secondary level of education or equivalent.

Previous butchery training or vocational certification is considered an advantage.
