Yard Attendant/Porter

SUMMARY: The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out instructions given by the Supervisor and assist in loading and offloading materials from the trucks. The position holder will also be responsible for receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing and transferring items to and from the Warehouse. JOB DUTIES:

1. Unload Merchandise from trucks (including containers) to warehouse floor.
2. Pack Merchandise on shelves in warehouse
3. Ensure the proper storage and rotation of all warehouse inventory.
4. Maintain tidiness and cleanliness in all areas of the warehouse and those immediately outside.
5. Advise fellow employees on the proper care, preservation and handling of warehouse stocks.
6. Ensure the proper receipt of goods into the warehouse, including: the verification of quantities, identification of discrepancies, labeling and coding of individual items, and passing information to sales floor and administrative offices.
7. Prepare and issue goods to sales floor and delivery trucks based on requisition or delivery note.
8. Prepare and release goods for transfer to other departments ensuring timeliness, accuracy and compliance with procedures.
9. Organize the process for the loading and offloading of containers. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

• Extended periods of standing may be required when dealing with customers.
• Physically able to engage in repetitive hand movements, reaching shelves of varying heights, stoop, bend and kneel frequently.
