• Insurance is responsible for The role effectively develops, leads and manages the implementation of insurance strategies and programs across the entire breadth of MMG and associated projects. The role is responsible to develop and manage key strategic broker, insurer and reinsurer relationships on behalf of MMG. The role is responsible to identify and minimise all forms of insurance related business risk. Specific accountabilities and activities of the role include: Develop, lead, manage and co-ordinate all aspects of the MMG Group insurance program. This includes the structuring of a global insurance program appropriate to MMG’s risk appetite Develop and manage the strategy of the Group Captive insurance company Provide all specialist technical expertise and advice in insurance directly to MMG Regions and Group Functions Provide direct technical advice to project teams on project insurance requirements for MMG and contractors Identify insurance coverage opportunities for current un-insured risks, work directly with MMG functions and sites to obtain required information and collate for quoting Present MMG directly to the global insurance and re-insurance markets Provide direct technical advice to Group and Regional supply/legal teams on insurance related contract risk and contractor insurance levels Monitor and verify the progress and completion of insurance risk engineering recommendations directly with each of the sites to report to the insurance market Work directly with sites and Group Functions all Group policies and co-ordinate changes, extensions and endorsements to cover on an as need basis Organise and facilitate insurers’ risk engineering annual site visits on annual basis Manage all Group policy insurance claims Provide direct support to M&A in acquisition/divestment insurance related risks and insurance requirements Work directly with sites to collect and collate all renewal questionnaires and renewal application forms Collate all renewal information and verify all information directly with sites and applicable Group functions Work directly with functions and sites to obtain insurer additional requested information e.g. TSF audits, environmental reports, specific financial data Skills Advanced capability to communicate strategic messages to direct team and all levels of the workforce, building a positive culture through open and effective communication High level communication skills to direct and influence key management decisions High level strategic planning and communication attributes with the ability to plan short term issues within a long-term planning environment The ability to be fully self-motivated and well organised Proven ability to effectively and efficiently handle large budgets requiring effective decision-making capability and to communicate at a high level Strong leadership and negotiation skills to manage large and complex insurance claims Knowledge Proven understanding of insurance coupled with Risk Management strategies and techniques Thorough knowledge of International/Global Insurance Markets Thorough technical knowledge of insurance contracts and policy coverage conditions Experience 8+ years’ experience in the insurance and risk management industry Well-developed experience at corporate level in insurance and insurance related risk management Experience from both insurance broking and a publicly listed company placement perspective Experience from global insurance business, preferably in the mining industry. Fluent, written and verbal, in Mandarin, English and Spanish (preferred).
