Job description

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Groundhand to support our linemen and electricians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in developing a long-term career in the electrical utility and construction industry. The Groundhand plays a critical role in maintaining safety, efficiency, and support during electrical operations, both overhead and underground.

Key Responsibilities

Assistance in Installations ● Support linemen and electricians during installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. ● Assist with setup and breakdown of job sites, transporting tools, materials, and supplies. ● Help prepare and assemble electrical components as directed. Safety and Compliance ● Strictly follow all company safety rules, OSHA standards, and project-specific safety protocols.

● Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free job site. ● Provide lookout/watch support when linemen are working near energized equipment. Equipment Handling & Ground Support ● Operate, inspect, and maintain tools and equipment, including ladders, lifts, ropes, and hand tools. ● Provide ground support for overhead and underground electrical installations, including pulling cable, handling wire, and staging materials.

● Operate ground-level equipment to support linemen during MV terminations, pole setting, or pad-mount installations.

Qualifications

● High school diploma or equivalent. ● Basic knowledge of electrical principles preferred (not required). ● Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding labor. ● Strong willingness to learn from experienced team members and linemen. ● Good communication and teamwork skills. ● Valid driver’s license preferred (CDL is a plus).

● Must be safety-conscious, dependable, and adaptable to changing field conditions.
