Senior Risk Analyst Company: China Merchants Bank Europe China Merchants Bank (CMB), established in 1987, is China’s first joint-stock commercial bank. It provides a range of diversified financial products and services to Corporation customers, Personal customers, Financial Institutions in EU and China. The Risk Management Function is responsible for ensuring that the Bank adequately controls and manages credit, market, operational, liquidity and other relevant risks.

It ensures the Bank is fully compliant with all banking laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the implementation and localization of EU (CRR, CRD, BRRD) and Luxembourgish regulations. Proactively align local risk appetite with the Group’s Risk Framework while ensuring the Risk Strategy supports sustainable business growth. Advanced Risk Oversight: Oversee the daily monitoring and deep-dive analysis of Market and Financial risks, including Liquidity Risk (LCR, NSFR) , FX Risk , IRRBB , and Counterparty Credit Risk .

You are expected to identify emerging risks before they manifest. Regulatory Leadership: Lead the end-to-end preparation and quality assurance of critical regulatory exercises, including ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery Planning , and Pillar III disclosures . Advanced Stress Testing: Design and execute sophisticated stress-testing scenarios across Credit, Liquidity, and Market risks, providing actionable insights to the Board for contingency funding and capital planning.

Innovation & Automation: Drive the digital transformation of the risk function by developing or supervising the creation of automated monitoring tools and advanced data solutions (e.g., Python/SQL integration beyond basic VBA). Regulatory Liaison: Track, interpret, and assess the impact of upcoming regulations (e.g., CRR III, ESG risk requirements).

Act as a primary contact point for CSSF inquiries and external audits. Policy Evolution: Architect and refine risk policies and procedures, ensuring they are not just compliant, but represent industry best practices. Stakeholder Management: Present high-level risk reports and strategic recommendations to the Risk Committee, Board of Directors, and Head Office.

Qualifications

& Skills Education: Master’s Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or a highly quantitative field. Professional Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Risk Management within the banking sector, with a proven track record of handling complex regulatory projects in Luxembourg. Regulatory Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of the European and local regulatory landscape (CSSF circulars, EBA guidelines).

Languages: Fluent English and Mandarin (Chinese) are mandatory to ensure seamless communication with Head Office and local stakeholders. French is a significant advantage. Certifications: Professional designations such as FRM or CFA are highly preferred for this senior level. Technical Stack: Advanced proficiency in Excel/VBA; experience with programming (SQL/Python) for risk modeling is a strong plus.

Soft Skills: Exceptional synthesis skills—the ability to distill complex risk metrics into clear, strategic narratives for executive decision-making. High ethical standards and the ability to mentor junior team members.
