Fleet Maintenance Tech III G122 Metra Transit

This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing the city’s fleet of public transportation vehicles and equipment. Performs repairs to all fleet vehicles.  Performs preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment; and tests the operation of the vehicles.  Inspects, diagnoses, and analyzes transit coaches and support vehicles.

Repairs or replaces brakes, air conditioning and heating systems, wheelchair lifts, fareboxes, electrical systems, and fuel systems; installs engines, generators, and transmissions; replaces engines; rebuilds transmissions.  Prepares coaches for quality control inspections.  Completes and files inspection sheets for the federal triennial inspections.
